It is suggested that Pernel de Mortimer was the widow of Robert de Mortimer of Essex (the father of Robert de Mortimer of Richard's Castle),
and that this Robert was a younger son of Robert de Mortimer of Norfolk,
the progenitor of the Mortimers of Attleborough.
