Thomas and Maud were married by 20 Henry III [1235-1236], when there was a fine between them and Hubert de Vaux, concerning "Gerlingham" [Surlingham, Norfolk] and Denham [Suffolk] [Walter Rye, A calendar of the feet of fines for Suffolk, p. 38 (1900); Hubert's widow Aline later claimed that Denham was an appurtenance of Surlingham, which she had been given in dower (see p. 405, note e)].
