Volume 9, page 268:
HUGH DE MORTIMER,
[son of Ralph de Mortimer, the Domesday tenant]
s. and h. Hugh de Mortimer attested a
charter by Gerold, Abbot of St. Lucien at Beauvais [1100-28], in the
time of Stephen, Count of Aumâle.
Robert de Mortimer of Norfolk attested a charter of Henry de Beaumont, earl of Warwick, who died in 1119. If Robert was Hugh's younger brother, this suggests Hugh was born before 1100 [Ian Mortimer, The Medieval Mortimer Family: An outline lineage]. (See Mortimer of Attleborough.)
