Lease by Richard Morten to Thomas Cam of land in Eckington, 1552

Indenture made 4 June 6 Edward VI [1552].
Between (1) Rychard Morten of Hackynthorpe, co Derby, talyor and (2) Thomas Cam of Norton, same co, talyor. Richard has set, demised, granted and let to farm to Thomas 1 close called Newmareland in lordship of Eckynton now in tenure of Richard, to Thomas and his assigns from Annunciation next for 10 years, paying yearly to Richard and his heirs and assigns 8d at Michaelmas. Thomas to pay at feast of St John the Baptist next within 8 days 6 pounds, 13 shillings 4 pence in the name of aforgyft or garsum. Also if Richard at the end of the first 5 years be minded to occupy the close for his own use, then Richard shall have it for the latter 5 years on condition that he pays Thomas at the day of his entry 3 pounds 16 shillings 8 pence and also give him 1 year warning before he enters. Also if Thomas does not occupy it to his own use but assigns it, then Richard shall occupy one half of the close of a nother manes pryce during all the term. The parties have set their seals interchangeably.
