Volume 6, page 136:
SIR JOHN GREY
or GREY, yr. s. of
Sir Thomas GRAY, of Heton and Wark-on-Tweed,
Northumberland (who d. 26 Nov. or 3 Dec. 1400),
by Joan, his wife (who was living 30 Nov. 1402).
He was b. after 1384.
Dave Utzinger and Douglas Richardson, in October 2001, pointed out evidence that Joan was a daughter of John, Lord Mowbray (d. 1368) [citing the monumental inscription of Joan's son Henry, recorded by Weever and Blomefield, and a late 15th-century visitation pedigree - Surtees Society, vol. 144, pp. 53, 54 (1930)]. Douglas Richardson afterwards (February 2002) posted details of a later visitation pedigree in which the same information appears [citing the Visitation of Yorkshire 1584/5, Harleian Society, vol. 16, pp. 233, 234 (1881)].
[As pointed out by Douglas Richardson in August 1999, the first two pieces of evidence for
Joan's identity were discussed by David Faris, Plantagenet Ancestry of
Seventeenth-Century Colonists, p. 156 (2nd edn, 1999).

DUKE OF GLOUCESTER.

[Vickers's statement was pointed out by Douglas Richardson in October 2003.
