Agreement between John Chastiloun, lord of Thornton, and John Wymond of Thornton, concerning a grant of land and meadow in Thornton, 1353

On Sunday in the feast of Holy Trinity, 27 Edward III [19 May 1353].
It is agreed between John Chastiloun, lord of Thornton' [Buckinghamshire], of one part, and John Wymond of Thornton' of the other, that John Chastilon' has conveyed, granted and demised to John Wymond all that messuage with 38 acres of arable land with the adjacent meadow in Thornton', which were of John Clement of Thornton', to hold to him or his assigns until the full estate of Robert, son and heir of the said John Clement, rendering yearly to John Chastilon', his heirs or assigns, 22 shillings and 2 pence at the four usual terms by equal portions, and he is to come to the great boon-work in Autumn. Warranty and defence by John Chastilon' and his heirs. John Wymond will maintain the houses at his own costs. John Chastilon' has granted that John Wymond will be allocated each year while it pleases John Castilon' that John Wymond should be in his service from the aforesaid rent 13 shillings and 4 pence.
