The National Archives gaol delivery roll JUST 3/167 covers several counties including Northamptonshire from 50 Edward III to 8 Richard II (1376-1385). According to the TNA, for Northamptonshire the roll relates to gaol delivery files JUST 3/52/2 to 3/52/10. The JUST 3/52 files largely contain lists of the names of people in custody, the names of officials and of jurors. Some entries provide more information about the alleged offence.
JUST 3/167 contains longer accounts of court proceedings including the values of items stolen and jury verdicts. Some accounts are quite long and detailed. This index is intended simply as a finding aid for Northamptonshire cases and further information about the offences is available in the original roll.
