Property: Concerning [a plea] that William was summoned to show why - whereas by the common council of the kingdom of England it was to be provided that [tenants] are not to be distrained by occasion of their tenements to do suit at the courts of their lords, unless they are to be held to that suit by the form of their feoffment, or they or their antecessors holding those tenements were accustomed to do it before the first crossing into Gascony of the lord Henry the king, the father of the lord king - William distrained the abbot to do suit at William's court of Riston' against the form of the aforesaid provision. And whereof the abbot complained that whereas he should hold of William 1 virgate of land in Riston' by the service of 1 pound of cumin, William distrained him to do suit at William's court of Ryston' every 3 weeks against the aforesaid form.
