Charter of Robert Butler (Boteler) of Northill [in Bedfordshire], granting specified lands in the fields of Northill to Richard Bron of Northill and Isabel, his wife, 13 January 1404.
Translation:
Let those present and future know that I Robert Boteler of Northyeuell' have given, granted and by this my present charter confirmed to Richard Bron' of the same and
Isabel, his wife, one acre and half a rood of land lying in parcels in the fields of Northyeuell' whereof one rood and a half of land lie together
at Wardone Pondys next to the land of the Abbot of Wardon' on one side and the land of John Sokelyng' on the other side and one rood of land lies in
the same furlong of which the head abuts against the Brade of the Abbot of Wardon' and the other head against the Queche and one rood of land lies
over Northlonge next to the land of the lord of Northyeuell' on either side and one rood of land lies in the same furlong next to the land of John
Herteshorn on one side and the land formerly of William Mayheu, to have and to hold all the aforesaid acre and half a rood of land with appurtenances to the aforesaid Richard
and Isabel, their heirs and assigns, for ever of the chief lords of the fee by the services owed and of right accustomed in respect thereof. And I the aforesaid Robert and
my heirs will warrant the aforesaid acre and half a rood of land with appurtenances to the aforesaid Richard and Isabel, their heirs and assigns, against all people
for ever. In testimony of which I have affixed by seal to this present charter, these being witnesses, John Herteshorn, John Boteler, Ralph Tayllo[ur],
Richard Bocher, John Pippard and others. Given at Northyeuell' on Sunday next after the feast of the Epiphany of the lord in the fifth year of the reign of King Henry the fourth after the conquest [13 January 1404].
