Volume 12, part 2, page 270, note d:
He [John, son of Richard (b. before 1056?)] had a least 3 sons and 2 daughters. ... (ii) Agnes, who m. Roger de Valognes and was a widow in 1185, her age being returned variously as 50 and 60 and more (Rot. de Dominabus, P.R.S., pp. 67, 77, 87); her age suggests that she may have been da. of a 2nd marriage.

Rosie Bevan, in April 2003, provided evidence that the ages given in 1185, which suggest that Agnes would have been born around 1130, are significantly too low. For example, Agnes was given land in Westley Waterless, Cambridgeshire, by Ralph de Tony before 1126 [citing Victoria County History, Cambridgeshire, vol. 6, p. 177] and her husband Roger de Valognes, by whom she had a number of children, died about 1141 [K. S. B. Keats-Rohan, Domesday Descendants, p. 759].

According to K. S. B. Keats-Rohan [Domesday Descendants, p. 769] before William's marriage to Burga, he had married Agnes, by whom he had two daughters: (1) Matilda, wife successively of Thomas de Muschamps of Wooler and Adam of Carlisle, and (2) Sibyl, wife of Walter II de Bolebec of Styford.
