Some corrections and additions to the Complete Peerage: Volume 7: Kerdeston (PROPOSED CORRECTIONS)

KERDESTON

Volume 7, page 196:
This William de Kerdeston [living 1372] (by Cecily his wife) left a son, Sir Leonard de Kerdeston, who was succeeded by his son, Sir Thomas de Kerdeston, who had a daughter and heir Elizabeth.
In 1425, by fine, this Sir Thomas and his wife Elizabeth conveyed the manors of Kerdiston, Claxton, &c., to Thomas Chaucer (son of Geoffrey Chaucer) and Maud his wife (great-granddaughter of William, Lord Kerdeston), who reconveyed the same to Kerdeston with remainder to male issue. Twenty years later, in 1445/6, this Sir Thomas Kerdeston and Philippe his wife by fine conveyed the manors to William (de la Pole), Marquess (later Duke) of Suffolk, and Alice his wife (daughter of the above-mentioned Maud Chaucer), who reconveyed the same with similar limitation. Charles M. Hansen [Genealogists' Magazine, vol. 22, pp. 373-377 (1988)] identified Sir Thomas's first wife Elizabeth as the widow of Sir Edward Burnell (d. 1415) and the daughter of Michael de la Pole, 2nd Earl of Suffolk (d. 1415). He also identified Sir Thomas's second wife Philippa as the daughter of Sir John Trussel, and presented evidence showing that Sir Thomas died 20 July 1446, not 1447.
