Douglas Richardson, in September 2003, supplied details of a papal dispensation for John and Isabel to contract marriage, dated 15 July 1275 [citing Jane E. Sayer, ed., Original Papal Documents in England and Wales (1198-1304) (1999), p. 351].

Volume 6, page 348:
He [Sir John de Hastinges (d. 1312/3)] m., 2ndly, Isabel, da. of Hugh (LE DESPENSER), EARL OF WINCHESTER, by Isabel, da. of William (DE BEAUCHAMP), EARL OF WARWICK.

Isabel was the widow of Gilbert de Clare, lord of Thomond, in Connaught (d. 1307) (see Clare [England], vol. 3, p. 246, note b).

Volume 6, page 359:
He [Sir Edward Hastings, Lord Hastings (d. 1437/8)] m., 1stly, Muriel, da. of Sir John DE DINHAM, of Hartland, Devon.

John P. Ravilious, in June 2001, outlined the chronological evidence indicating that Muriel was daughter of Sir John de Dinham (d. 1428), by his first wife Ellen.

Volume 6, page 370 (as modified by volume 14):
SIR WILLIAM HASTINGES, of Kirby, co. Leicester, and Burton Hastings, co. Warwick, s. and h. of Sir Leonard Hastings, of the same (who d. 20 Oct. 1455), by Alice, living 1 Feb. 1455/6, da. of Thomas (DE CAMOYS), LORD CAMOYS.

Henry Sutliff, in October 2001, pointed out that in the 1530 Visitation of Sussex Alice is identified as the daughter of Thomas de Camoys by his first wife Elizabeth Louches. Douglas Richardson, in April 2002, observed that the evidence regarding the consanguinity of Edward Hastings and Mary Hungerford also supports this view [citing Calendar of Papal Letters, vol. 13, part 2, pp. 687-693 (1955)].
