[Matthew de Lovaine (d. 1302)]
m., 1stly, on or before 31 May 1268,
Helisant, a kinswoman of Henry III, who gave 300 marks as her
marriage portion. He m. 2ndly, Maud POYNTZ. He d. early
in 1302, the writ to the escheator being issued on 24 May. Dower
was assigned to his widow Maud 8 July 1302. ...
THOMAS DE LOVAINE, s. and h., was a minor at his father's death,
having been b. 11 July 1291, at Bildeston, Suffolk, and bap. in Chelsworth

Matthew seems to have had another wife between Helisant and Maud - apparently a sister of Thomas de Blakenham - who was the mother of Thomas, his son and heir, and died immediately after his birth. Thomas's proof of age records that his uncle, Thomas de Blakenham, was one of his godfathers, and mentions the subsequent death of his mother [Calendar of Inquisitions Post Mortem, vol. 5, no 539; the reference given above is incorrect].
